You are collected from your hotel in Svolvær by private vehicle and driven approximately 26 kilometres north to Livland, on the northern side of Austvågøy. The transfer is the opening of the evening, not a detail — this is not a Northern Lights chase. Livland itself is the destination.
The evening is built around a family farm, an Arctic Sharing dinner, and the quiet the coast still keeps at night. If the aurora appears, we step outside together. If it does not, the evening is already complete.
The Viking sheep graze the fields around the yard. When conditions align, you can watch — and photograph — the northern light above them. It is a scene entirely unique to Livland.
Dinner arrives slowly, on shared platters, so the meal can pause the moment the sky opens. There is time for storytelling by the fire, and, for those who want it, an hour in the wood-fired sauna.
Livland sits in one of the darkest and calmest corners of Austvågøy — a rare thing on a coast that is otherwise easy to reach. That is why the sky, when it decides to speak, is heard here first.

- 01The aurora is part of the story — not the whole story.
- 02Photograph the northern light above the Viking sheep, only at Livland.
- 03Arctic Sharing menu built for aurora nights — pause the meal, step outside, return to a warm table.
- 04One of the darkest skies on Austvågøy — collected from your hotel in Svolvær, driven north to Livland.
